The original message came from Magdalena:

Stanford University Researchers (under Research Director, Dr. Grant Lipman) are looking for healthy adults to participate in a research study to determine if an over-the-counter antiinflammatory can be used to prevent high altitude illness. Participants will be randomly assigned to take either the study medication or a placebo (sugar pill) during their hike to Barcroft Summit (13,050’) and will be asked to fill out short questionnaires describing their health and symptoms, and have ultrasound imaging.

You can see the full flier at PAINS advertisement.

I thought hey, why not? Hike some peak and get provided with food and shelter. Well, I didn’t know that it was rather far away – in Bishop. Bishop is about 6 hours driving from the Bay Area. Thus we spent a lot of time in the car. One more reason to carpool. This time the patient was Girish’s camry – 5 people total.

…and it will be updated later.
